Until recently in the South of Costa Rica there were no services for wildlife found by the public in need of specialized care. At Ave Azul we took up that challenge some years ago filling that gap by providing specialized care to wildlife in need of a helping hand.
As a result of a lifetime of working at a number of facilities over my zoological career I have gained a wide variety of experience and knowledge with an array of exotic animals. Applying that expertise to rescue/ rehab we have managed in the past to have saved and returned to the wild an menagerie of jungle creatures.
Government agencies in Costa Rica provide the paperwork and permits to conduct such activity, they do not however, provide any funding. We fund what we can personally but we must also solicit funds from the visiting public. Therefore donations are greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.

Wake each morning to the magical laughter from a gang of Australian Kookaburras and the drum like sounding calls of African crowned Cranes. The greeting of dawn is completed by the roar of Howler monkeys staking their territory high above the tropical trees.
